Akbar Alinasab Transferred for Execution in Ardabil

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); November 6, 2022: Akbar Alinasab, a man sentenced to qisas(retribution-in-kind) for murder, has been transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution in Ardabil Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution in Ardabil Central Prison on November 6. His identity has been established as 35-year-old Akbar Alinasab who was sentenced to qisas for murder.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Akbar Alinasab was arrested for the murder of his father four years ago and sentenced to qisas. His two sisters and two brothers who are the victim’s next of kin, have refused to forgo their right to retribution and are demanding execution.”

Those charged with the umbrella term of “intentional murder” are sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) regardless of intent or circumstances due to a lack of grading in law. Once a defendant has been convicted, the victim’s family are required to choose between death as retribution, diya (blood money) or forgiveness.
