Four people were hanged in central Iran today- 27 execution in the first 8 days of the new year

Iran Human Rights, January 8: Four men were hanged in the prison of central Iranian city of Isfahan, early today Saturday January 8.

According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars, the men were identified as "Mohammad N." convicted of keeping 940 grams and selling 10 grams of crack; "Ali K" (36 years old) for keeping 56 kilogarms og crack; "Ramezan Gh" (48 years old) for buying 40 kilograms of opium and keeping a special scale for distribution of drugs; and "Manouchehr A" for keeping 450 grams of crack and 775 kilograms of opium.

Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of Iran Human Rights, condemned today’s executions and urged the international community to react to the wave of execution going on in Iran.

He said:" Iranian authorities haven’t been condemned even once, despite 48 executions in the last 19 days". He added: "27 people have been hanged in the first eight days of the new year, among them one public hanging in the capital Tehran". Amiry-Moghaddam continued:" The international community’s lack of reaction is regrettable and sends the wrong signals to the Iranian authorities".
