Four people were hanged in southeastern Iran- Several possibly executed in Tehran

Iran Human Rights, June 1st: According to the official site of the Iranian judiciary in Kerman (southeastern Iran), four people were hanged in the central prison of this city early this morning.

The report said the men were identified as Esmaeil J., convicted of possession of 980 grams of heroin and 28 grams of opium; Hassan N. and Hassan Gh., both were charged with participation in armed smuggling of 137 kilograms and 250 grams of opium; and Hassan K. for possession of 26,250 grams of heroin, 55 kilograms of morphine, and 39 grams of opium. The rights group Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran reported that several people were hanged in Tehran’s Evin prison this morning.

According to this report one of the executed prisoners was identified as Abdolhamid Reigi, 36, a Baluch citizen convicted of Moharebeh (waging war against God). The report did not mention the name or exact number of prisoners who were allegedly executed in Tehran today.

The official Iranian media did not report on today’s executions in Iran.
