One man was executed in eastern Iran

Iran Human Rights, October 16: One man was hanged in the prison of Birjand, capital of the southern Khorasan province, in eastern Iran.

According to the state run news agency Fars, the man who wasn’t identified by name, was convicted of killing a security force officer identified as Eliasinejad. The incident happened under an armed clash between the security forces and drug traffickers in July 2011, said the report.

The charges have not been confirmed by independent sources.
