Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); October 16, 2025: State media reported the executions of Amir Reza Ghobadi, Majid Hatami and Sajad Hatami for charges of moharebeh (enmity against god) through armed robbery.
According to the judiciary’s Mizan News Agency, three men named Amir Reza Ghobadi (left photo), Majid Hatami (middle photo) and Sajad Hatami (right photo) were hanged at an unspecified location on 15 October 2025. IHRNGO has verified the location as Ghezelhesar Prison.
Per the judiciary’s report, the three defendants were members of a gang that carried out armed robberies across homes in Tehran using weapons such as AK47s and handguns. They were sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of “19 counts of moharebeh through drawing weapons on residents, participation in serial and armed theft of property with firearms and in groups at night, along with harassment and threats against people in the house and threats with firearms, imprisonment, detention and hiding people in the house, participation in intentional assault and causing intentional bodily harm.”
The confessions of the defendants were aired with news of their executions.
According to IHRNGO’s 2024 Annual Report on the Death Penalty, at least ten people were executed for charges of moharebeh through armed robberies.
