Farshid Hassanzehi

Farshid Hassanzehi is a 25-year-old Baluch protester from Cheshme Ziarat village who was arrested on 24 November 2022 in relation to an attack on a nearby IRGC base and death of IRGC member Behzad Barahouyi. Ignoring that he had an alibi that day and that his employer where he worked as a builder had verified that he was working that day, Farshid was subjected to torture to force false confessions which were used as evidence of his guilt. His trial took place online without a lawyer.

CHARGES: Qisas (retribution-in-kind), Behzad Barahouyi’s family are the private plaintiffs in the case.

STATUS: Sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Zahedan Criminal Court on 12 November 2023. Held in Zahedan Central Prison.
