Abdolghani Shahbakhsh

Abdolghani Shahbakhsh is a Baluch political prisoner and one of the first defendants in a case of four defendants who were all reported to have been severely tortured to extract false self-incriminating confessions. He was previously cleared of the charges and released but later rearrested by the IRGC Intelligence Organisation. 

Charges: Baghy (armed rebellion) through “forming and membership in anti-revolutionary terrorist groups.” 

Status: Sentenced to death by Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on 4 February 2023. The verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court and sent for implementation in late October 2024. He is held in Ghezelhesar Prison.
