Farshad Etemadifar

Farshad Etemadifar was arrested in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province with three others on 16 June 2023. State media claimed they were “connected” to the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and had “intended to carry out disruptive operations.” Farshad was held incommunicado in prolonged solitary confinement and subjected to torture to extract confessions. He was also denied medical care and access to a lawyer and was reportedly unrepresented at trial. Farshad was transferred to Ahvaz for unknown reasons where he was tried. He is currently held in Ahvaz Sheiban Prison.


CHARGES: Efsad-fil-arz (corruption on earth), baghy (armed rebellion) through membership in opposition groups and propaganda against the system.

STATUS: Branch 1 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Adibimehr, issued two death sentences on 14 July 2025. Per reports, an appeal was filed on 23 July which was subsequently rejected by the Supreme Court which upeheld the sentence on 12 November.
