Peyman (Amin) Farahavar is a 37-year-old father and poet from Gilan who was working as a seasonal labourer at the time of his arrest in Rasht on 17 August 2024. He was denied medical treatment despite suffering from chronic illnesses and subjected to coercion to force confessions. He is currently held in Rasht (Lakan) Central Prison.
CHARGES: Baghy (armed rebellion) through collaboration with opposition groups, moharebeh (enmity against god) through destruction of the Rasht seminary seminary and propaganda against the system for wall writing.
STATUS: Sentenced to death on charges of baghy and moharebeh by the Rasht Revolutionary Court. He also received 3 months of imprisonment for the propaganda charges which he has already served. On 24 September 2025, his lawyer reported that the appeal he previously filed had been rejected by the Supreme Court which upheld Peyman’s death sentence. Another appeal has been filed.
