URGENT: 11 people including at least one minor offender, are scheduled to be executed in Tehran’s Evin prison, on Wednesday June 11

Iran Human Rights, June 9: 11 people are scheduled to be hanged in Tehran’s Evin prison, on Wednesday June 11, reported the Iranian daily newspaper Etemad. One og those to be executed on Wednesday is the minor offender Behnood Shojaei, who is sentenced to death for a murder he allegedly committed at the age of 17.

Earlier reports indicate that another minor offender, Mohammad Fadaei, is also scheduled to be executed on Wednesday morning.

Iran has ratified the UN’s convention for the children’s rights which bans capital punisment for the offences committed at under 18 years of age. however more at least 10 minor offenders were executed in 2007 and several, among them Behnood SHojaee and Mohammad Fadaei, are in the death row.

Human rights activists believe that international pressure could be the only way to save these minor’s lives.
