8 men were hanged in Tehran’s Evin prison early this morning

Iran Human Rights, June 11: Eight men were hanged in Tehran’s Evin prison early this morning Wednesday June 11., reported the state run Fars news agency. The execution of three others which was scheduled for today, was postponed for one month according to the report. The three whose execution was postponed are identified as Behnood Shojaee, Mohammad Fadaei and Davoud Mahdoor.

According to the report, those hanged in the Evin prison this morning are: Kiarash (32) convicted of murder in 2005, Alireza (28) convicted of murder and rubbery, Abdolmajid (34) convicted of rape in 2001, Ali Akbar (age not given) convicted of murder, Mohammad (27) convicted of murder in 2001, Farhad (31) convicted of murder (date of murder not given) and two cousins by the names of Ali and Ali (ages not given) convicted of rape in 2005.

Two minor offenders Behnod Shojaee and Mohammad Fadaei were scheduled to be executed this morning but the executions were postponed after an order from the head of the Iranian judiciary. It is believed that the executions were halted as a result of the massive domestic and international focus on the cases.
