President of the Norwegian Parliament asks the Iranian authorities to halt execution of the minors

Iran Human Rights, June 24: Thorbjorn Jagland, president of the Norwegian Parliament has sent an official letter to his counterpart in the Iranian Majles (Parliament) Ali Larijani, asking Iran to halt the planned executions of the minors. He also asked the Iranian authorities to respect their international obligations such as UN’s Convention for the rights of the child, which banns death penalty for the offences committed as a minor. News of the letter was broadcasted by the official Norwegian News agency (NTB) and published in several sites.

There is increasing international pressure on Iran with regards to the violation of the human rights and particularly execution of the minors.

 

The European parliament strongly condemned execution of the minors in Iran in a statement published on June 19.
