One person hanged in northeastern and five others hanged in northwestern Iran

Iran Human Rights, July 18: One person was hanged in the prison of Shirvan, northeast of Iran, reported the state run Iranian news agency Fars today.

The eprson who was not identified by the name, was convicted of keeping 989 grams of crystall (drug), according to the report.

According to the Kurdish news agency "Mokarian" five men were hanged in the prison of Orumieh, northwest of Iran, Thursday July 16. The men were identified as Feisal Saedi, Karam Azizi, Omid Nourani, ABdolrahman RAndi and Ali Sarban, according to the report.

These are teh five people who were scheduled to be executed two weeks ago, but their execution had been postponed. All the men were charged with drug trafficking by the Iranian judiciary, said the report.

No independent source has confirmed the charges.
