Shahabedin Nazari is an architectural engineer and currently undertaking his MA in Middle Eastern Studies. A case was opened against him upon the complaint of the IRGC in Khuzestan for writing and giving interviews to domestic media about government corruption. On 30 May 2020, he was sentenced to a year imprisonment on the charge of “propaganda against the system” by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Moghiseh, which was upheld by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals. Shahabedin Nazari surrendered himself to Evin Prison to serve his sentence on 27 January 2021 and was released on 5 April 2021. Shahabedin was violently rearrested on 11 January 2023 and released on bail 19 February 2023. He is currently awaiting trial.
