Iran Human Rights, January 4: One man is scheduled to be hanged in public in Tehran tomorrow January 5.
According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars, the man identified as Yaqub, was convicted of stabbing another man to death on the street in October 2010, and sentenced to death by hanging in public on the crime scene. According to this report, Yaqub is also sentenced to 100 lashes for immoral relationship with the fiance of the offended, and 74 lashes for "demonstration of power" with a knife in public.
After approval of the death sentence and 74 lashes by the Supreme court and head of the judiciary, Yaqub is going to be flogged 74 lashes and then hanged in public in the "Kaj" square located in Seadatabad area of Tehran tomorrow before the noon.
Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of Iran Human Rights, called the scheduled punishment barbaric and urged the world community to condemn it.
