Mohammad Zeinoldini

Mohammad Zeinoldini is a 23-year-old Baluch man arrested by the IRGC while he was on his way to work in Lashar, Sistan and Baluchistan province, in October 2020. He was arrested in relation to an armed clash that ensued in Sirchah after security forces opened fire on a car, killing two of Mohammad’s relatives. The man responsible for firing back at the security forces was killed at the scene. Mohammad was held incommunicado, denied access to a lawyer and subjected to physical and psychological torture that included pulling his nails out and electric shocks, to extract confessions to the killings. Under the pressure, Mohammad tried to take his own life on 29 January 2024 and continues to struggle with his mental health. 

CHARGES: Moharebeh (enmity against god) through armed action in connection with the death of 3 security forces.

STATUS: Sentenced to death in early 2023 which was upheld by the Supreme Court on 20 November 2023. In July 2025, his sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court and his case was referred to a court of equal standing. Mohammad was released on bail pending retrial on 30 July 2025.
