Yaghoub Derakhshan
Yaghoub Derakhshan is a 50-year-old political prisoner who was arrested and charged with “propaganda against the system” in the summer of 2024, and released on bail weeks later. He was rearrested in the Spring of 2025 and charged with baghy (armed rebellion). According to informed sources, online messages were used as evidence of his guilt and the case was handled with “unusual speed” and “without observing fair trial rights.” He is held in Rasht (Lakan) Central Prison.
CHARGES: Baghy (armed rebellion) through membership of the People's Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK)
STATUS: Sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ahmad Darvish Goftar. He was informed of the verdict behind bars on 24 July 2025.
