Abdolrahman Nehtani Executed in Group Hanging of 8 in Shiraz

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); December 1, 2025: Abdolrahman Nehtani, a Baluch man on death row for drug-related offences, was hanged in Shiraz Central Prison. With the seven previously reported executions, eight people were hanged at the prison that day.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Shiraz (Adel Abad) Central Prison on 26 November 2025. His identity has been established as Abdolrahman Nehtani, a 50-year-old Baluch father of four from Zahedan. He was arrested around five years ago and sentenced to death on drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

IHRNGO previously reported the executions of Hamid Yousefzehi, Ahmad Soltani, Majid Khakzad, Naser Karbakhsh, an unidentified man, Mina Sadoughi and Farokh Pourfarzi, bringing the total number of executions at the prison to eight that day.

At the time of writing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Drug-related executions have continuously risen every year since 2021. According to IHRNGO’s 2024 Annual Report on the Death Penalty, at least 503 people were executed for drug-related charges, of which only under 3% were announced by official sources. 17% of all drug-related executions in 2024 were Baluch minorities while they represent 2-6% of Iran’s population. At least 612 people were executed for drug-related offences in the first ten months of 2025.
